The protest held by several employees of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority on Tuesday (6) outside the Tourism Ministry calling for the re-establishment of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and to repeal the Tourism Act No 38 of 2005 was organized by Tourism Minister Nandana Gunathileka, sources from the Presidential Secretariat said.

It is learnt that the banners and placards held by the protestors had been given to them by Nandana Gunathileka’s driver.

Like in all other ministries, there is a conflict between Tourism Minister Nandana Gunathileka and non Cabinet Tourism Promotions Minister Faizer Mustapha.
As reported earlier in this website, the President has allocated many powers that were vested with former Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda to Faizer Mustapha.

Nandana Gunathileka has therefore received a ministry with limited powers.
