Rs. 100 million from SLT for nephew Lalinda from the Presidential uncle

  Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has incurred a loss of over Rs. 100 million due to the President’s decision to ask his nephew to provide the Wimax technology to the telecommunication company, which has been requesting for the technology from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).

Lalinda Hettiarachchi who received the Wimax technology is the President’s sister’s son. The President after giving his nephew the Wimax technology has ordered the SLT Chairperson to purchase the technology from him. The nephew has charged a sum of Rs. 100 million for the project and the agreement signed for the transaction is also disadvantageous to SLT.
