Ranil tries to win Johnny over by making Thalatha Ratnapura District Leader |

The proposal made by Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to appoint UNP Ratnapura District parliamentarian Thalatha Atukorale as the party’s Ratnapura District Leader was unanimously approved by the Working Committee that met on Wednesday (12). The other Ratnapura District parliamentarian Dunesh Gankanda had also supported the proposal.
UNP parliamentarian Lakshman Seneviratne had told several Working Committee members that Wickremesinghe was trying to wing over Johnston Fernando’s support by appointing Thalatha as the Ratnapura District Leader.
Lakshman, Johnston and Thalatha, who opposed Wickremesinghe’s leadership, have been appointed as district leaders of the party.
