said he was displeased that the central government had decided to give 15,000 acres of land in the east to a Japanese firm without his knowledge.
The Chief Minister said he would inquire from the provincial authorities if approval would be given to the project that is backed by several powerful government officials including a person from the east who was recently appointed as a minister.
The Chief Minister also said he had in writing informed the President of the plan to give 15,000 acres of land in the east to a Japanese firm and was now awaiting a response.
Nation Building Minister Susantha Punchinilame said the relevant project which is to be implemented following a proposal made by the President would provide employment opportunities for 20,000 people in the east and a housing scheme that would be completed in three stages.
