  Accused of printing counterfeit notes, DIG Prathapasinghe addresses political rallies in uniform

  A senior police officer of the Southern Province told Lanka News Web that Southern Province DIG Prathapasinghe is planning on contesting the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council election from the UPFA after retirement. The source said that he had already commenced campaign work for the election and attends meetings in his official uniform.

Prathapasinghe it is learnt has handed his campaign work to police OICs in the police stations in the Matara District with his main base being the Kamburupitiya electorate in Matara.

Prathapasinghe has also ordered the OICs of respective police stations to organize two pocket meetings and a bodhi pooja every week.
  Therefore, the OICs have been placed in a difficult position and are even unable to carry out their basic work in the police station, sources said.

It is also learnt that while the Defence Secretary has launched an operation to crackdown on the underworld in Colombo, Prathapasinghe is using the help of the underworld figures in Matara in his campaign work.

DIG Prathapasinghe is also accused of printing counterfeit notes.
