Prisons sources said the security check carried out by the police on Monday (20) at the Welikada CRP prison had caused much inconvenience to the prison inmates.
The police officers who had entered the prison premises around 3 p.m. had ordered the prisoners to remove their clothes and caused harassment to them. Sources also said the police had even inserted pens into the prisoners’ rectum to conduct checks causing much inconvenience to them.
It is further learnt that the prisons authorities have objected to the conduct of the police and have decided to make known their objections officially as well.
