Clarification on the article titled “Shower of stones for the President’s son from the IDPs” |

We have received information that an organized group of people are attempting to publicize that the story carried under the above headline on July 11th around 7 p.m. by Lanka News Web is false.
This group’s claim that the story is a fabrication is based on the photograph of Namal Rajapakse that appeared alongside the article. The group is now engaged in circulating e-mails carrying various arguments based on this story.
We always make every attempt to carry a relevant photograph alongside the stories we upload in the website. Since we operate from overseas, it is no easy task to always have access to photographs that are directly related to each story. Therefore, we most often |

rely on the photographs in our possession.
However, the photograph we published alongside the story of the President’s son being attacked at the IDP camp is not connected with the story. In this instance, it is indeed unfortunate that we could not attribute the photograph to the source we extracted it from.
We sincerely regret this error on our part and apologize to our viewers.
However, we firmly stand by story carried on the mud and stone attack on the President’s son by the IDP in the northern camps when he visited them recently.
It is pertinent to note that we also clearly stated in our story that the photographic and video evidence of the attack in the possession of the media personnel who accompanied the President’s son to the IDP camps were deleted and taken away by his security. The story was also not publicized by the local media.
We firmly reiterate that the story carried by us is accurate including the details of the story, including the medical attention received by the President’s son to his forehead that was injured due to the attack.
