The CID has informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today that the computers of Sri Lanka Mirror and Sri Lanka X News websites have contained pornographic material. The CID has made this submission when the case filed against the staff of Sri Lanka Mirror and Sri Lanka X News was taken up for hearing today.
When the case was previously taken up the CID told court that the websites and the staff had acted against the state and in a manner that has brought disrepute to the royal image.
However, making submissions before court today, the CID has made new charges contradicting the previously leveled charges.
The CID is now under fear and pressure after the staff of Sri Lanka Mirror and Sri Lanka X News websites filed a fundamental rights petition before the Supreme Court against their arrest. Therefore, the CID is now trying various strategies to justify their actions against the two websites and its employees.
A senior lawyer who appeared for the journalists from the websites said that the CID would be asked to explain before court how watching porn in computers has affected the royal image.
