The Pansaltenne Estate under the Matale Elkaduwa Plantation Company has been allocated to set up a racing track to hold the Carlton Super Cross races.

The land that has been allocated to set up the race track has a tea estate, several bungalows and a lake. The construction of the race track has been assigned to the military and the army has already commenced work on the track. Monies for the project are to be used from public funds.

A large number of workers at the Elkaduwa PlantationCompany have lost their jobs due to the race track project.
