Sri Lankan nation is now passing a terrible unfortunate period. Everywhere there are clashes, fighting, strikes resulting uneasiness, stresses and strains in the society.

The Supremacy of Law, Education, Universities, Transport, Health, Petroleum, Electricity, Economy, Democracy, Discipline of the country etc are falling down day by day in our country. If the leader and his administration is so capable, all these chapters should be going up well because all these areas are under the one and Unique Leader Mahinda Rajapaksha. Further, there is a dedicated second level Leader (Minister) for each chapter, and below them there are Secretaries and its own task forces.

The most difficult issue; the thirty years old war against the strongest, richest and dangerous terrorist outfit in the world was won by this “Lokaya Dinu Nayaka” alias “Lokanayaka”. But the war against all other “Karmas” could not be won by this profound leader. Instead of that cruelty, violence, falsehood and corruption are rapidly growing everywhere in the country.

This so called “Lokaya Dinu Nayaka” alias “Lokanayaka” so far fails in stopping the barbaric ragging in universities. He can’t understand where the feeling of ragging, harassing and bullying comes from. He could not so far control political hooliganism. He could not establish road discipline in Sri Lankan roads. He could not stop child molestation, rape and defloration. So how did such a person win the thirty years old war... is it by a miracle?

In turn, this background encourages us to recognize and acknowledge that General Sarath Fonseka is the key person who piloted the war in to victory. General Fonseka wowed that he is not going to let the war goes to the hands of next Army Commander and he achieved it. It is the only promise materialized in MR’s government. It made MR “Lokaya Dinu Nayaka”.

If President Rajapaksha, in any of his election manifestos, had stated that he intends to take a strong military action against LTTE, why did LTTE openly block north-east Tamils voting to RanilWickramasinghe in 2005. Had LTTE estimated MR as a less powerful leader who can’t face them? The only man voted in north for UNP in the presidential election was punished by LTTE. How do we explain these facts?

During President Chandrika’s period she wanted to transfer General Fonseka from northern command. Did President Mahinda Rajapaksha who was the then Prime Minister, protest for that decision? He never uttered any single word against that. We know JHU and JVP protested against that decision. Even though his media henchmen articulate that he had a strong mindset to win the war, there was no such true strength. General Fonseka induced it with his steadfast promise that he is not going to keep room to Prabhakaran for his next “MahaWiru Kathawa” and he is not going to pass the war to next Army Commander. That is the gospel truth.

Instead of going against LTTE, MR approached the LTTE through Tiran Alas to win the election. Tiran himself had vomited this fact in a subsequent stage.

At the “Mavilnaaru water stoppage” General SF tabled an analytical exposition and convinced the government that the situation can be militarily definitely defeated provided that the government agrees to stay at this decision firmly. Truly, by this time General Fonseka was just recovered from the massive physical damages resulted by the LTTE bomb attack. As government had no other solution it had to agree. Because of General SF’s competency in strategic planning the operation became a complete success. The cheer of the general public was unbelievably high and the government identified a new exclusive commodity to market at the forth coming election campaigns.

General Fonseka had been continuously researching on the war for a very long period and during this period he forwarded his findings to the government. The government was fuddled on the massive public response for the “Mawilnaru Victory” and at this juncture General Fonseka successfully managed to convince the government that the armed forces can militarily defeat and eradicate this LTTE terrorism. General Fonseka had been bearing this task since the early stages of his career in the Army. His analytical exposition covered most of the situations like foreign interventions that can potentially emerge when the war goes on in favour of the GOSL. He had an assessment on the probable interventions that can come from foreign countries like India and USA with reference to Rajeeve Gandi’s assassination, Twin Tower blast and other terrorist attacks on various countries of the world. His inference was that some sort of pressures will come from foreign countries because of Tamil Diaspora but no country will physically intervene as terrorism has been seriously engulfing the entire world.

Once his wife won the American Green Card Lottery for the entire family, he would have simply gone and settled down in USA like Lt.Col Gotabaya Rajapaksha who had been permanently enjoying the life of USA for a long period. But General Fonseka didn’t do it because he believed that he is going to get an opportunity to fight against LTTE. Unlike Gotabaya, General Fonseka loved the Country and the Army. Now he has contracted the media mercenary Chandrapema to write the other side of the truth behind this war. Chandrapema should not buy food for his children using this money.

Government realised that General Fonseka is going to produce a superior product that can become well popular at the future election market. So the government hugged the war solution and let General go ahead with his proposals. Therefore the Government made financial allocations for the arms and development of the forces. The required arms were planned by General Fonseka and the Secretary Defence purchased them through Lanka Logistics.

There were several instances that the government wants to have truce periods during the war. However there were many stay-wires to hold the government to original foundation. One strong party which firmly gripped the stay-wires was General Fonseka and the Army. By this time, Gotabhaya had firmly merged in the war mechanism and was holding another stay wire. JVP, JHU like organizations were holding the other stay-wires. Several media showed good contribution. More than all others there was very strong public support. Therefore the government had no room to shift away from the war even though various external pressures emerged. However the picture shown to the external world through the pro-government media is that the political leadership is steel-firm by its own. It is fully untrue.

During this period truly Gotabaya worked lot to coordinate the three forces and police. But the strategic planning was not made by him as he was away from army for very long period. During that period the evolution of the war was massive and he had to struggle to catch up. It was General Fonseka who updated and tuned him to the then situation. Please recall your memory on his photos during the early stages as the Secretary Defence, he never faced the camera straight or covered his mouth with his hand like a woman.

Of course Air force, Navy and Police including STF played major roles in this process. However, it is imperative that we have to accept the fact that the main organisation is the Sri Lankan Army.

During this period the government tested the intermediate stages of the product manufactured by “General Fonseka & Company” at the provincial council elections and achieved very attractive result. This is how the government went through the war. At that time General Fonseka was a golden man to the government, even though now President Rajapaksha wants him to apologise and beg amnesty from him for no reason.

It is MR’s government that started to sell war victories and war heroes in politics. The government observed the massive demand earned by newly entered war heroes like Major General Janaka Perera in the political arena. That observation permeated in a form of a poisonous virus in the mind set of the political hierarchy and it made a serious issue against the most popular war hero who just wants only to be a professional soldier. At an interview, he has very clearly stated to Rivira “I never come to politics as I am a Professional Soldier”.

The ruling Leadership has been undermining the UNP leadership since the beginning. The ruling Leadership cracked the JVP in to two parties and weakened. President Rajapaksha made Ranil Wickramasinghe to be seen as a weak and unfortunate character to the external world and to the long term voters of UNP. The government created a feel with in UNP for a requirement of a strong leadership for winning the elections. Some mercenary writers wrote continuously to develop a public notion against UNP leader to make him abandoned.

By all these means the government and its mercenary media persons constructed a new requirement within the opposition for finding a strong common candidate who can show exclusive specifications to election market. It is how a foundation was built for General Fonseka to come front in the last presidential election. It was how General Fonseka stepped in to politics. Also, General Fonseka himself learnt that the country is in a complete political turmoil even though the war is over.

JVP and UNP that are long rival parties came on to one platform, at least for a short period, because of General Fonseka. Some articulated that JVP should fully adhere to its Marxist fundamentals at all times. Why? If China didn’t adjust its policies to go with the changing world at the right time, how can China become this much strong country in the world? Russia and the communist world adjusted to match to the new requirements in ever changing world. Socialist East Germany joined with capitalist West Germany and formed United Germany for the benefit of German nation. Why should not JVP and UNP adjust the nature of their filters to mutually accept common and nationally important requirements for the betterment of the country? Truly General Fonseka is a master in resource mobilization. He has strength to bring all parties on to one solid platform.

Seeing the personality of the General Fonseka we can see that he can certainly become a very effective National Political Leader in Sri Lanka. He is a religious man. He runs a good and smooth family, is a good husband and is a dutiful father. He doesn’t have complaints against his character. He eradicated corruption in the establishment under him. He re-established the army as a professional army. He selected the right field commanders and extracted maximum out of them. He kept his promise to the nation.

He looked after the welfare of the lower classes of the army personnel. He himself was an embodiment to a faithful servant of the government.

Therefore there is no doubt that he can expand his professionalism towards national service politically. Anyway now he has been in the jail.

Never mind, he is still strong, truly he is steel strong. He is been harassed continuously. His entire family is now in very difficult situation. His relations are in same bad situation. But still this iron man stays as a giant. The nation should be lucky to understand this strongman as an embodiment to a true leader. The government fostered number of fictitious allegations against him and couldn’t prove any single allegation by genuine legal reasoning. The public observed the way things happened in courts. After imposing all these unfair punishments on him and harassments to his close relations, he still remains as an iron man, a true giant. He is still that strong General Fonseka. He doesn’t want to bend his knees in front of unjust.

During the period he has been living in jail, he studied lot about politics. The jail life taught him some essential lessons that a political leader should understand before working in Sri Lankan Politics. It is a blessing for him to study the differences of the professional world and political world. He can now come back as a matured politician. On the other hand he needed to have a sufficient period to transform from military life to full civil life. This jail term serves that requirement as well.

Unfortunately the joint opposition didn’t move ahead and fought the last general election under “Swan”. They could have definitely earned large number of seats. It is an empirical truth.

It is not too late, if people of Sri Lanka are lucky to realize the truth, to correctly position this gigantic iron man in national political service, the country will rapidly come to the correct track. He is a man keeps promises. Trust him please. Stay with him please.
