The President has decided to launch a campaign to rally the people against the possibility of a resolution being presented against Sri Lanka following a proposal made by Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

Since Sri Lanka was likely to be defeated at the UNHRC in Geneva in the event a resolution was presented against the country, the President has appointed an internal committee headed by Minister Dullas Alahapperuma to launch a massive campaign to rally the people against such a move.

Other members of the committee are Ministers Champika Ranawaka, Wimal Weerawansa, Mervyn Silva, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and MP J.R.P. Sooriyapperuma and state media institution heads, Hudson Samarasinghe, Sudharman Radaliyagoda, Mahinda Abeysundera and a director of the Presidential Media Unit Mahinda Illepruma.

The coordinating work is carried out by the Additional Director of the Government Information Department, Chandrapala Liyanage.

The President had yesterday summoned the party leaders of the UPFA government and SLFP organizers to Temple Trees and explained to them the current situation in the country. Minister Wimal Weerawansa had been assigned the task of making a speech to push patriotism amongst the people gathered at the meeting.

Wimal had explained details and in usual fashion claimed everything was a foreign conspiracy. He had severely criticized the editor of the Sunday Mawbima newspaper, Upul Joseph Fernando.
