  LSSP member and Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana has said there was no point in objecting to the constitutional amendments since it would receive more than a two-thirds majority in parliament and because the number of Left party members in parliament amount only to five.

  The value of the vehicles belonging to the President of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka in 2005 when President Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office stood at Rs. 30,910,000. By the end of 2009, the value had increased to Rs. 2,410,346,000. Therefore, within the last four years, the President has maintained a vehicle convoy worth Rs. 2,379,436,000.
